At this point I'm still reeling from the data that we're Gentrys! From census checks, and from what I know of Warren and his wife Nancy, AND the YDNA analysis that says my uncle and the five descendants of Nicholas I Gentry (passes through the male line), I'm leaning toward the theory that Warren b. 1794 was married prior to his marriage to Nancy--she was 10 years younger. In the census of 1840 in Shelby Co. AL, Warren has a son around 20 living with him, as well as two sons that would fit John Wesley b. 1828 and Young b. 1830. John Wesley and Young are supposed to have been b. in SC, the remainder of Warren's known children in AL. I have spent years trying to find Warren's parents. Kinchen MAY have been related, Leroy son of Job was b. the same year as Warren, etc. but nothing I could hold onto. Of course Warren may have been adopted--taken in--and renamed Tison, but somehow I doubt that. I really believe John Wesley was Nancy's by a previous marriage and Warren met her as a traveling Methodist minister. Young could also be a Gentry, if that is the case. I know of no other offspring of John Wesley. He had one other son whose birth was after John W. was killed during the Civil War. We've had no contact with his family--but that's a possible research direction. Thank you for your interest! (We are closest genetically to the Graviet line--only one genetic difference at the 37 marker--that's kissing cousins!) SallyK ([email protected])
