Re: Elizabeth George/TN 1823
I haven't been in the George family forum for quite a long time, but I have the info you are looking for. Elizabeth George, was the daughter of William George, and Elizabeth Clutz George and was born in Greene County, TN, abt 1823. She married Richard Elder on September 17,1847. Their was a George family book done by the Greene County George family, but as your Richard and Elizabeth appear to have moved away, their descendents were not listed. Apparently the authors did not know how to contact anyone from this line.
The assending tree is: Your Elizabeth, her parents,William George, b. abt 1792, in Pa., d. 1846, in Greene Co, TN. Elizabeth Clutz, b. abt 1799, in Green Co, d. between 1880, and 1890, in Greene Co. She was the daughter of John Clutz and Christina Girdner Clutz.Williams parents were Jost George, and Catarina, last name thought to be Holben, the sister of Jost's first wife, Anna Margaretha. The George name was originally Jorg, and pronounced "Yerrick". Jost is supposed to have been born in Germany, but came to America in the mid-1750's with his father, Johanne Jost Jorg. This is all from the book "The George family history" by Mary Doty Gleason, Millard George and Francis George Brumley, printed in 1980. It's in the Greene County, TN. library. I would not have any idea how to get a copy of it. I do have a picture of the cemetery stone of Jost George if you would like it emailed to you. He is buried at Solomon Lutheren Cemetery, in Greene County.
