David Gibbs was the son of Nicholas Gibbs and Mary Ephland.The Nicholas Gibbs family is well documented back into Germany.The best source of information is the Nicholas Gibbs Historical Society headquartered in Corryton which is in Knox County Tennessee.If you have difficulty contacting them email me and I will find a contact for you.
