JOSE LEON GIL & son JOSE MARIA GIL

For those who tried to contact me back in 2001 & afterwards, I have changed my email a number of times, so I apologize for not contacting you regarding JOSE LEON GIL who changed his name from MCGILL/MACGILL of Scotland.He apparently was a mercenary soldier, going to Madrid, Spain where he met his wife LOUSA ALLOS.They had 2 known children, a girl, whose name I do not have, and a boy, my husband's ancestor: JOSE MARIA GIL, b.14 Dec 1821 Madrid, Spain.This family migrated to Erongaricuaro, Michoacan, Mexico.JOSE MARIA GIL, as a young man, removed north to California during the Gold Rush to seek his fortune, and apparently did well. He met & married in Jolon, CA. a neophyte Salinan Indian girl given the Christian name of: MARIA ANTONIAVALLEJO AVILA LINARES at the Msn. San Antonio de Padua, Jolon, CA. JOSE & MARIA are both buried at the property of the GIL ADOBE, A HISTORICAL LANDMARK, and an archeological dig has been done there as well in Jolon, CA.
