Wish I knew more about the Ginivan family of my query. Since the two in my ancestry tree are of a collateral line, I have not done direct research to find their ancestors beyond the area of Illinois, USA.
John Ginivan was a nephew adopted by one of my grandfathers after the death of his wife's sister and her husband, who were the Ginivan parents of the John I have.
It is likely they came from the Irish stock you mention as there seems to be very few of them in the USA even at this time period.
I suspect your Australian Ginivan probably are the rest of the family of the American holdout.... If I ever come across more on them, I will certainly let you know.
For now, I can tell you that the Ginivan of my tree are buried at the "Old Macomb Cemetery" at Macomb, McDonough County, Illinois, USA. Unfortunately none of this family survived to produce offspring. Others in the area may have, but these three lie in rest at the location above. I have photos of the cemetery. It is peaceful and groomed, but has suffered much destruction in the past history of its existance.
I do not live nearby. Occasionally in travel I go through the area.
Hope you are well where you are. Nice to meet family connections! Nancie in Texas, USA
