I saw a medical map of Ireland about 10 years ago. On it was the name of Niall Tyrconneliensis O'Glacan, that is Niall O'Glacan from Donegal (Tir Conail). He left Ireland about the time of the Flight of the Earls. He was physician to the King of France and lectured in Medicine in Bologna. He wrote a number of key medical textbooks which are stored in the National Library in Dublin. So we've been around for a while!
