Hi!I have no real grip on the GLACKIN side of the family but hope that someone can identify this marriage:
Dennis GLACKIN m. Catherine McHUGH in Ireland (probably Donegal)
Dennis & Catherine have at least one daughter, Ann GLACKIN b. about March 1817, according to the"History of Grundy County, Illinois", O. L. Baskin & Co., Historical Publishers, Lake Side Building, Chicago, 1882.For years, I had the surname wrong -- GLACKLIN, with an extra L -- and this may be where I picked up the error.I don't remember any more.
Ann GLACKIN marries James CUNNEA I in Ireland in 1834.They have 12 children, in this order:three Ireland, one New York, four in Illinois, and four more I don't know where or when.Ann Glackin Cunnea dies in Illinois in 1893.
I've seen messages here at genealogy.com from Peggy Ives talking about a John Glackin who came over from Ireland and then lived on a farm in Morris, Grundy County, Illinois.Peggy said "An Anna (Glackin) Cunnea lived on a farm adjacent to John's."Unfortunately, I can't tell from her message if she means a farm in Illinois, or a farm in Ireland.Anybody know?Original message from 1999 at: http://genforum.genealogy.com/glackin/messages/97.htmlhttp://genforum.genealogy.com/glackin/messages/97.html
Another message Peggy Ives left here back in 2000 indicates that Anna was one of three children of the Dennis-Catherine marriage to come to the U.S., see http://genforum.genealogy.com/glackin/messages/218.htmlhttp://genforum.genealogy.com/glackin/messages/218.html It's been three years -- does anyone have any new info?
I've seen Ann, Anne, Anna, and Annie. Anybody know what she preferred? Who are Ann I. GLACKIN CUNNEA's siblings? If her sibling(s) got to Illinois first, is that why she and her husband James CUNNEA chose Grundy County when they emigrated? What's the "I" stand for? Does anyone know anything else about her parents, Dennis GLACKIN & Catherine McHUGH? Ages, locales, anything? Who are her grandparents?
