I tried looking in the census files for Rowe (in northwest Mass.) and Petersham, and any other location I had for the Gleasons.I found plenty of Asa Gleasons, but the problem is with the early census data, only the head of the household is listed by name.It wasn't until 1850 that other members of the household were listed. So you find all kinds of Gleasons but who goes with who is the question and have you found the right ones.Write off census records prior to 1850 as a source unless it's a secondary source confirming another source. The only hope is church records or public records which were scarce in the rural frontier areas.
