I have been researching my husband's GODINEZ lines for many years.So far the news seems to be that different sons went to different parts of Jalisco and Michoacan.There are many children listed for some of the families in the Ayo el Chico area, Atotonilco el Alto area, and the La Barca area in Jalisco.I also have lines in the Ixtlan, Michoacan area.However it seems to me that many if not all of these lines come from Antonio GODINES, baptised 25 Mar 1685 in Ocotlan, Jalisco.He was the son of Juan GODINES and Michaela de Estrada.
Antonio GODINES married on 6 Mar 1707 in La Barca, Jalisco to Manuela LOMELIN.
I have not found that our GODINEZ family were indios.
I believe that Jph. Manuel GODINES was listed as an espanol when he wed on 19 Feb 1772 in La Barca to Maria Francisca Leonor SANTIAGO.I think she was called a mestiza.
I have over 10,000 names from Jalisco and the surrounding areas of "Los Altos" de Jalisco.Perhaps we have some other connections.Let me know.
