Hello Glenn
Yes - it would be good if we could find a link but though I've been trying to find one for quite a while I've had no luck so far.To answer your questions,I found the date of marriage of Alexander and Christina on the IGI as being 27th Feb 1846 in Shotts. However, on two different entries her date of birth is given as 16th May or 16th Dec 1824 - don't know which is correct but her date of death on one entry is given as 16th May 1895 and this is the date on her death cert. She died in Edinburgh as did Alexander on 10 July 1898.The informant on Christina's death cert was their sonHugh. The informant on Alexander's death cert was their son William who was also living in Edinburgh at the time.
Of course you're right about Alexander (b. 1855) being born at Dandy Row, Shotts - I got mixed up with the Alexanders!!
Thanks also for the info about your Grandfather and Gran.
My earliest known Goldie, GGG Grandfather Hugh Goldie came from the west of Scotland (Ayrshire)His son William was born in he Barony parish of Glasgow in 1804. He married GG Grandmother Agnes Stark from Carnwath in Shotts on 21st March 1824.In 1841 the family was in the parish of Old Monkland, near Glasgow. In 1851 they were at Dykehead in Shotts and by 1861 they were in the parish of Bathgate (Polkemmet Row, Armadale) where William died in 1866.
The 1851 census records show that the second and thirdchildren of your Alexander and Christina (James and Margaret) were born in New Monkland and by the time Isabella was born in 1852 they were back in Shotts. So it certainly seems that our families moved in the same directions at about the same time!
It would be great to solve the puzzle.
