Special to the State
Patrick Sept. 28Rev. W.H. Goodale, a very old and highly honored citizen of this county died in his home fie [five] miles north of Patrick on Friday afternoon about 3 o'clock. He was at the time of his death 84 years of age, and no doubt was the oldest man in Chesterfield County. Early in his life he united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, south, and for 60 years has been actively engaged in church work.
He was ill only about three weeks and slowly sank into death as if falling a sleep [asleep]. He was conscious up to the last hour and gave directions about his interment.
His body was interred at Bay Springs Baptist Church, where his former wife was laid to rest some five years ago. He leaves a widow, several sons, in this and adjoining states and a host of friends to mourn his death
