my mackerness goode, sr and his son, mackerness goode, jr;my william harris, sr/ frances goode and their son, my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers all obtained ca 1768/ 1770 grants in now laurens co, sc in what was called the little river area of laurens/ newberry cos, sc.
grants or memorials had to be paid on these grants in charleston, sc and i am also giving the info on who paid the taxes for these grants as this is also important information.
mackerness goode, jr, son of my mackerness goode, sr,had a grant for 500 acres on the beaverdam branch of little river in 1767 and mackerness goode, jr signed for this grant himself on dec 6, 1767.
mackerness goode, jr also signed for cornelius cargill's 1767, 400 acre grant also on the beaverdam creek of the little river also on dec 6, 1767.
this cornelius cargill was the son of john, sr and rachel tinsley cargill, who had moved before 1770 from lunenburg/ halifax co, va to now laurens co, sc.
my mackerness goode, sr had a grant for 100 acres also on the beaverdam creek of little river adjacent mackerness goode, jr in 1769 and joseph davenport signed formy mackerness goode, sr's grant on may 13, 1771.
this joseph davenport is important because samuel goode, oldest son of my mackerness goode, sr, married jemina davenport daughter of joseph davenport.joseph davenport died 1788/ 1791 newberrry co, sc and his will can be found there naming samuel goode as his son-in-law.
my william harris, sr had a grant for 300 acres on north's creek of little river in 1768 and patrick cunningham signed for his grant jan 15, 1773.
the info indicates that patrick cunningham's wife ann harris cunningham was the sister of my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers and children of my william harris/ frances goode.
per my mackerness goode, sr's son, mackerness goode, jr's edgefield co, sc will, which dave goode has posted rercently, our related mackerness goode, jr had several notes with patrick cunningham.
