this is certainly interesting that frances goode sold this land to john elam in 1742.
as i have said, there is info out there that martha goode, sister offrances goode; my mackerness goode, sr; william goode, etc, children of our samuel, sr and martha jones goode, married john elam and this deed itself gives credence to that.
here are some of the lunenburg co, va deeds also associating the elam family with my harris family and our goode family there in lunenburg co, va but before i cite these deeds, i also note, of course, that frances goode was not married in 1742.
again, could it have been frances goode, sister of my mackerness goode, sr who married my william harris, sr ca 1745???
i cannot see that she was because, again, my william harris, sr is indicated to have been born ca 1725/ 1727 and it would seem that frances goode, sister of my mackerness goode, sr would have been born some time before 1727.
for example, if she were born ca 1727, that would mean she would have only been about 8 years old when her father samuel goode, sr died in 1734/ 1735 and this does not figure and it is not what the will itself states.
again, per the 1734/ 1735 henrico co, va will of our samuel goode, sr,all of the children were of age, except their daughters: margaret goode and martha goode.
here, then, are the lunenburg co, va deeds connecting the elam family there with my/ our goode family; my harris family; thomas hamblin, jr and peter hamblin.
lunenburg co, va deed book 3, page 168, 1752,william goode of lunenburg to edward elam of same for 30 pds, 200 acres on the west or upper side of the bluestone creek being part of a larger quantity patented to william goode, bounded by mackerness goode's line.witnesses:george walton; james stanley; reps osborne.
this would certainly seem to be the same reps osborne who my mackerness goode, sr or jr sold this land to in lunenburg co, va in 1752.
lunenburg co, va deed book 5, page 122, 1758, william harris of lunenburg to joel elam of same for 21 pds, 71 acres on the upper side of the middle bluestone creek.witnesses:william goode; augustine rowland; and hugh mc vey. judith, wife of william harris, relinquished her right of dower.
this was "my"william harris/ judith hudson, who died 1778/ 1779 mecklenburg co, va who, per his will had a son william harris, who i am trying to confirm was my william harris/ frances goode.
lunenburg co, va deed book 5, page 48, 1757, edward elam of lunenburg co, va to william elam of same for 20 pds, 200 acres in lunenburg on the west or upper side of the bluestone creek, part of a larger quantity patented to william goode and bounded by mackerness goode.witnesses:william goode; peter hamblin; thomas hamblin, jr.jane, wife of edward elam, relinquished her right of dower.
this peter hamblin above also witnessed this lunenburg co, va deed re my william harris/ frances goode:
lunenburg co, va deed book 6, page 528, 1761, william harris of lunenburg co, va to john smith of amelia co, va for 200 pds, 400 acres on both sides of the middle fork of the bluestone creek.witnesses:abram crowder; peter hamblin; benjamin ragsdale.frances, wife of william harris, relinquished her right of dower.
the hamblin family is also shown to have been involved with our goode family and the fact that there was a mackerness hamblin also indicates a connection with our goode family.
if you go to genforum:hamblin family;# 952;re mackerness hamblin, there is a recent post by charles walthall stating that by 1750 thomas hamblin was living with mackerness goode and that he married phoebe? goode?, daughter of mackerness goode?
all i can confirm is that, per these lunenburg co, va deeds is that thomas hamblin, jr and peter hamblin were involved in lunenburg co, va with william goode; my mackerness goode, sr; my william harris/ frances goode and with the elams.
