The new book, "A Winter with the Mormons: The 1852 Letters of Jotham Goodell," will be published in November by University of Utah's Marriott Library in a limited edition of 1,000 copies. Goodell's letters describe the winter that he and his wife, Anna Glenning Batcheler, and seven of their ten living children on the northern fringe of new Mormon settlements in Utah while on their way to Oregon. I was honored to edit his letters for publication and dedicate this book to the descendants of Jotham Weeks and Anna Glenning Bacheler Goodell who settled in Oregon and Washington. It is presented as part of the University of Utah Library's Tanner series to enhance understanding of Utah, the Mormons and the West. Any Goodell family member who wishes to receive a free brochure describing this work should let me know at the above email address and I will see to it that you receive one. David Bigler.
