Stephen, Thanks for your reply; I do not know if this Moses Goodell you refer to is who I am looking for, but it is a start. All I have now is estimates that he was born in 1780 in Mass., and just estimates on any marriage or death dates.I am not even sure of the accuracy of the name of his spouse's name (Nancy?) who may have been born in N.H. abt. 1785.
Somewhere along the line, probably around 1800, they migrated to Ashtabula Co., Oh., and my great-grandfather, Casper Hendershot Goodiel (their son) was born on Apr. 2, 1825, thus beginning my known family line. From unconfirmed sources, I have also found that Casper used both Goodell/Goodale, before settling on Goodiel as the surname that now exists in my family tree, why I have no idea.
I have recently received documents stating a Ebenezer Goodale who was in the Revolutionary War, had died and his widow Jerusha (?), who lived in Ashtabula Co., had applied for his pension benefits. He apparently was part of the Connecticut Militia during the War.I am being told I should check the birth records of Hartford and Glastonbury, CT., to look for Moses and his brother Austin.
Any help you may render in this search would be greatly appreciated.
