ROBERT W. GREENE, b. abt. 1795 VA, brothers ELDRIDGE, HORRACE, & LEWIS

I am looking for information on the family of Robert W. Greene, who was born about 1795 in Virginia (according to the 1850 Nashville, TN census).He died in the summer of 1864, at the plantation of his son-in-law James Trooper Armstrong near Pine Bluff, Ark.I have no idea who his parents were, but know from family letters that he had 3 brothers named Eldridge, Horrace, & Lewis.

ELDRIDGE had a son named ULYSSES T. Greene.Ulysses, born about 1827 in Tennessee, married a Luemma or Luciana (maiden name Wynne according to some researchers), who was born abut 1827 in Virginia, and settled in Chillicothe, Missouri.They had 3 children: Sophia W. (b. 1865), Luemma W.(?)(b. 1867), and James (b. 1870).Ulysses wrote to his cousin Alexander P. Greene on June 17th 1873, "My Mother and Father has been dead for some years:I am the son of Eldridge Greene who was a Brother to your Father.I have been liveing in this state [Missouri] for twenty two years . . .I am now 46 years old have a wife & three Children.I have only a Brother & Sister liveing my Sister lives in this County her adress is Chillicothe Mo (Mrs. J. A. Turner.)My Brother lives on the Western Sloap of the Rocky Mountains Boise City the Cappital of Idaho Ter."
I think his brother in Boise might possibly be John H. T. Greene.

ROBERT W. GREENE married MATILDA PORTER of Nashville, TN on 14 Oct 1819 in Nashville.They were married by Geo. Blackburn, V.D.M.; bondsmen Francis McGavock & Thomas P. Adams.In 1832 they were living in Decatur, Alabama.Matilda died shortly thereafter.She was the daughter of ALEXANDER JAMES PORTER, a wealthy Nashville merchant from northern Ireland, and SUSANNAH MASSENGILL of Sullivan Co., Tennessee (Rocky Mount).

Robert & Matilda had 4 children that I know of:
SUSAN JANE GREENE, b. abt. 1825 in TN, married Albert G. Payne 1848, died 1851.ALEXANDER P. GREENE, b. abt. 1825 in TN, went to northern California in 1854 and married Jessee E. Posey; had a daughter Posey B. Greene who married Frank L. Coffee, son of Andrew J. Coffee.MATILDA PORTER GREENE (called Lady) (my ancestor), b. abt. 1830 in TN or AL, who married James Trooper Armstrong, son of William Armstrong.ROBERT W. GREENE, JR., b. abt. 1831(?), died 1847, buried in Nashville City Cem.
