To give a better answer to your original question, the LaMance book does have a lot of valid entries.I am descended from the James Greene, Kings, Nichols line I believe in part III of her book.I do have a copy of the book that I made from an original book a long time ago.
My grandmother Margaret "Maggie" Swanson Gray is even on page 286 (I think that is correct).Where we found the most errors, is that she had the wrong children deceased, wrong ones survived but mostly in her most recent time frame before publication. Most of the rest is pretty reliable. My brother and I have torn the book backwards and forwards. We had a little help from older relatives for some of it but, unfortunately they did not live that long.
Lora had one daughter and we have been unsuccessful in finding any archived copies of the actual manuscripts that Lora used.It has been a source of lots of matching and research to try to prove some of her information correct and find the sources too.She does refer to my grandmother only as Maggie which should have had her full name then the nickname but, if you see other old time research material, they did that in the 1800's because they may not have known the full proper name of all the relatives.
It does have to be taken in parts though and you will need to do further research to prove some parts of it.
