I am quite sure your Hannon is related to mine if the area you are looking into is Rutherford or Polk County, NC ... and they would have had to descend from only two people ... Edwin Hannon or William Hannon, Jr ... as their father(William Hannon, SR) was killed in an Indian Massacre in 1776 ... as far as we know there were no other Hannon families there at that time.
If there is a Green in the mix with your Hannon's, then most likely would be from William Hannon, Jr., and quite possibly from the same line as me ...
Interesting about the Hughes name ... my husband is a Hughes and his father and that family is one HUGE brick wall for us ..we can't locate any of them ... but they are said to be from Maryland, although I can't verify that cause I can't find them !!!!
If you need any assistance at all in your search, let me know and I'll see what I can do to help.
Kathy
