Thanks for your info.I do remember Neils wife coming in search of him when i was young,she turned up with their daughter out of the blue looking for Uncle Neil. My Nan had no idea he had married. But Uncle Neil had always been like that going off for years at a time without keeping touch then turning up. Uncle Neil was an alcoholic. Uncle Neil's parents were Amelia Eleanor Purvis and Neil Mckenzie snr. They never married, because my Nan Amelia was still married to her first husband William Ferrell who had abandoned My Nan and my mum and her other brother. So I always knew Neil senior as my granddad.
Neil Mckenzie senior died in 1975 aged 80yrs. He had been a stoker and worked in Sheerness dockyard. Amelia Eleanor died in 1979 aged 81 yrs.
