Sue, I just read with interest your two messages in May and June of last year (your exchange with Peter).Actually, I'm not looking for Greenhalgh ancestors, I am looking for a connection of Entwistle's with the Greenhalgh's.
I am trying to find the ancestry of Samuel Entwistle. He was married twice; his second wife was my husband's ancestor. However, his first marriage on 28 Nov 1839 in Bury was to Mary Ann Greenhalgh, daughter of JAMES of Tottingham. The interesting thing to me in my research is that, on the marriage certificate, Samuel's father is listed as JOSEPH Greenhalgh. This raises a whole list of questions, none of which I have so far been able to answer.
I notice in your May message that Robert Greenhalgh's children included sons James and Joseph.Another connection I found was an entry in the Bury census of 1841 that listed the following household*: (James?) Greenhalgh, 50, Bleacher; Betty Greenhalgh, 55; (Fanny?) Greenhalgh, 25; and James Entwistle, 6.*I have typed the entries as they appear in the census.
I noticed in your June message that you mentioned a FANNY.
Any possibility you have any "Entwistle connections" in your records?Thank you so much for any help you can give me.Reba
