Greenhalgh in London, England
Does anyone have any info on any Greenhalgh families who lived in London England?
Ancestry posts a will for a William Greenhalgh that he wrote on April 29, 1792; his wife was Margaret and he mentions two sons Thomas and William. William says he is "of South Audley Street at St. George, Hanover Square". His sons must be older men, because he appoints Thomas as the Executor of his will, with his wife as Executrix. Wouldn't Thomas have to at least be in his 20's to do that?
This intrigues me because my own Greenhalgh ancestors have a connection to St. George, Hanover Square.
There is a burial date for a Margaret Greenhalgh at Westminster, St. George, Hanover Square of March 3, 1807. Is this the same Margaret wife of William of April 1792?
Three other burials at Westminster, St. George, Hanover Square:
George GreenhalghOct. 30, 1808
William GreenhalghDec. 22, 1809
Catherine GreenhalghMay 25, 1812
My earliest known Greenhalgh ancestor is Thomas who died between 1793 and May 1812. His wife was Catherine Wilder whose will was proved May 25, 1812- is the burial date above hers?Seems coincidental.
In my own ancestor's family- Thomas and Catherine had six children. There was only one daughter; she married and had 3 children of her own but none of them ever had children.
One of her brothers, my ancestor James Greenhalgh 1785-1850, married and had 2 sons and one daughter. Because of the lack of descendents in this Greenhalgh line I have no one to compare notes with.
Any info great appreciated.
