Re: Thomas Greenhouse b1829 Ludlow?
You wrote "Could your Thomas Greenhouse have been the father of A Sarah Greenhouse born about 1847, who married a Richard Staley and dwelled in Leintwardine?"
Unfortunately unlikely even though Greenhouse is an uncommon name and the 1881 census has Thomas being born in Leintwardine.Looking at the information I currently have...Thomas and Helen married in Scotland in 1853 had James (b Stirling Scotland 1854),William Thomas (b 1861 in India), Samuel (b 1862 in India), George (b 1865 in India), Ronald (b 1861 in India), Septimus (b 1869 in Aden), Jane (b 1871 in Portsmouth), Annie (b 1874) and Charles (b 1877).....
Septimus indicates to us the seventh child and we can only account for five before him. However, as Helen was from the Scottish Highlands and married Thomas in Fort William when his regiment (82nd Rgt of Foot) was stationed there it seems very unlikely that she would have been the mother of Sarah but with a date of birth for Thomas of early 1829 then he is in the right place at the right time for a child born in 1847 although he would have been on the young side. This needs some more digging.
But maybe some good news - are you in touch with Carolyn (Sweet4grease@aol.com) who writes "I do know that Sarah and Richard Staley had 17 children in all and my great grandfather was Moses.Sarah was my great great grandmother and her maiden name was Greenhouse."
and also in touch with Florence at firstname.lastname@example.org as she is linked to this side of the Greenhouse family as well but stupidly I appear to have deleted her information apart from the address.
Hope this helps
