Greetings-
the major genealogy charts of that William and Jane Greenlaw family which arrived in Maine 1753 were made by my grandfather, Charles R. Greenlaw, roughly during period 1930-1960, by contacting many Maine Greenlaw relatives. The LDS microfilms post-dated his work. CRG died 1963 in San Francisco. His middle son, the late Dr. Colin Torrey Greenlaw (then living in Oregon), travelled to Scotland to research further the origins of William and Jane. There, he found 2 things... first: that all the parish records had been microfilmed and were available in the US, and second: that there were a William and Jane living in Liberton (now greater Edinburgh) at the right time. He copied and distributed the Liberton records to many. HOWEVER, the children of that Wiliam and Jane did not fit the children who emmigrated to North America in 1753 (on the brig "Dolphin" from Greenock, west of Glasgow). Uncle Colin then researched further- this time using the LDS microfilm, and found at least two more Wiliam and Janefamilies in Scotland at the right time. One of those two families had children of about the right names and right ages (considering the possibility of infant mortality and reuse of names). They lived in Castlecary and Cubernauld (vicinity Falkirk and sw of Sterling, e. of Glasgow). I have paper copies of the microfilm. Seems to be the right family - but not 100% proof. Forget Liberton.

If someone has more, or better, info on Wm and Jane, lets hear about it.
