JOSEPH, RICHARD, & SAMUEL GREENLEAF OF WOOLWICH, ME
The Woolwich Historical Society published a genealogy book "The Founding Fathers of Woolwich, Maine and Their Children" in October. The Greenleaf brothers,all sons of Stephen & Mary (MACKRES) GREENLEAF, Joseph, Richard, and Samuel and their families are featured in this book. Joseph GREENLEAF was b. Jul. 2, 1727 York, ME & died before March 1781 in the Montsweag area of Woolwich. He m. Dorcas GRAY ca. 1752 in the Georgetown area later know as Woolwich. Joseph and Dorcas had eight children. GREENLEAF was b. Nov. 24, 1715 Newbury, MA & d. probably in Starks, ME. He m. Sarah BOUCHER on May 19, 1747 Boston, MA and had at least three children. He m. a 2nd time but name of wife is unknown. Samuel GREENLEAF was b. Jun. 12, 1718 Newbury & d. in 1792 in Edgecomb (now Westport). He m. Hephzibah PREBLE intentions recorded on Aug. 26, 1744 Gerogetown (now Woolwich)and had seven children born in Edgecomb (now Westport).
