Re: info on mose gribbins early 1900's in Merrimac, Kentucky
I never knew there was a "Gribbens" forum on Gen.com until now. I posted an Obit. for Bill Gribbens an older man I knew from back home in Marseilles ILL. He and I used to BS a lot about Ky as we both were born at Merrimac and ended up in Marseilles. He born 1920 and I was born 1937. He remembered my Dad and Uncles and My Uncle Raymonds being Killed by another young man over a foolish verbal exchange and my dad stabbing that young man and that young man dieing of blood poisoning, bad days back then.I was born on a small Farm that my mothers family owned and is still in the family matter of fact which was just about on the Marion/Taylor County line on the Merrimac Road.I had a celabration in that small Bedroombedroom I was born in that small house to celebrate my 70th birthday on Sept 7,2007. I reflected on my Mother and Fathers and mine lifes for awhile. My cousin Larry was with me and although he is about 15 years younger than me he could remember the old stories passed down year after year of Merrimac and Mannsville and all the people who have been here and gone of those many early years.I am very familiar of the Gribiins families as I was in love with a Gribbins girl when I was about 11 years old. Don't remember her name now but she was from Pleasant Valley. A little further down Merrimac road and then it turns into Pleasant Valley road.My MOM was a Malone and born just off Pleasant Valley road onto Malone road or Whipporwill as it was called back when I was a youngster. My Geneological Web site is open to visit atwww.tribalpages.comUser ID if needed is johnharm33then click on the "GO" and tour the site.
