Steve Grieme was born on August 4, 1963 in Slayton, Minnesota to Donald and Berniece Payton Grieme. He grew up in Slayton and graduated from Slayton High School in 1982. Following high school Steve attended Southwest State in Marshall, MN.In 1983 Steve returned to Slayton and worked in Worthington building homes. In 1986 he moved to Tucson, AZ and started a landscaping business. He remained in Tucson until 1996 when he moved back to Slayton and started Heartbeat Drywall.In December 2006 due to failing health Steve became a resident of the Golden Living Center in Wabasso, MN.Steve passed away on March 14, 2007 at the Redwood Falls Area Hospital in Redwood Falls, MN at the age of 43. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton. Steve enjoyed playing drums on his own and was in several bands. He also enjoyed riding his Triumph motorcycle, bowling, shooting pool, golfing, sand volleyball, and playing pinochle.He was an avid Minnesota sports fan. Survivors include: his father, Donald Grieme and his wife, Hilda of Slayton, MN, two brothers and three sisters and their spouses, Barb and Dale Olofson of Rochester, MN, Peg and Bill Erickson of Blue Earth, MN, Jeff and Trish Grieme of Slayton, MN, Amy and Curt Sack of Kerkhoven, MN, John and Dulce Grieme of Plymouth, MN, and several nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his grandparents, and his mother, Berniece Grieme. Memorial Services were held at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Ted Kunze officiating.The organist is Twyla Hungerford.The honorary pallbearers are Jim Hoekman, Scott Johnson, Doug Renault, Dave Rise, Tammy Mahon, Curt Like, Glenn Yotter, Brett Hegstad, and David Kathman.Interment at Slayton Memorial Gardens, Slayton, MN.
