"Soldier" John Grigsby from Rockbridge Co. VA had a son John Grigsby Jr., but he was still living in Rockbridge Co. VA after Tenn. John Grigsby was living in Hawkins Co. KY. The John Grigsby known as Tenn. John Grigsby was the John Grigsby found in Rockingham Co. VA prior to the Rockingham Co. group of families who moved to Hawkins Co. TN. This
John Grigsby was part of the Grigsby family line found in the southern part of the Shenandoah Valley of VA. The Combs family researchers state that he Grigsbys were early settlers in the Shenandoah Valley, coming around 1732. Some of the group were still in the Shenandoah Valley 100 years later when Jesse Grigsby died in 1836. John Grigsby had gone before 1800 to Hawkins Co. TN. Thomas Grigsby had gone to Clay Co. KY later Perry Co. KY by 1804, and Jesse Grigsby's widow and family moved in 1838 to Adams and Pike Co., Illinois. This Grigsby family line probably descends from Immigrant John Grigsby's son John Grigsby, Jr.. "Soldier" John Grigsby descends from Immigrant John Grigsby's son Charles Grigsby.
