Re: Benjamin Grimes of MD and Ohio, 1799-1848
Question:How do you know he was born MD?I am curious.
I have Grimes in Guernsey Co., OH and one George Grimes who died before 12 Oct 1842 (proving of will) lists a son Benjamin in his will.My son, George, is listed born in PA, but at one point his older sister Catherine (born MD) is living in his house.George (Sr.) Grimes' will lists:my beloved wife Elizabeth Grimes; my grand son Charles Grimes; "my daughter Catharine Grimes if she should remain unmarried but if she is then married . . .the property aforesaid should be sold and the money to be equally divided among her the said Catharine Grimes and the rest of my children, that is to say Nancy Lowery [sp?] and Benjamin and Charles and ___ [Ra?, Ka?, Wm?] and George and Isaac Grimes and Mary Lanning."
My George (Jr.) was born ca 1803; Catherine born ca 1792, and Mary b. ca 1800.The rest are unknown.I am guessing William for the initials that I couldn't make out as they faded off the edge of a well battered page, but it could be any short or abreviated name.
I don't know if your Benjamin fits, but the counties are close to each other so I would be interested in the answer regarding his birth location.
