Sorry this is late, I just found it.You may or may not get this, who knows?
Morton Daniel Griswold was the son of my great great uncle, Daniel Griswold, of Wallingford.Daniel's younger brother, Samuel Ames Griswold, of Branford, CT, also my great great uncle, was my namesake. Both were undertakers and furniture store owners (most pieces taken in trade for their services, and most early American).I am Samuel Ames Griswold II.Both are the younger brothers of my great grandfather, Dr. Frederick Pratt Griswold, MD.All were born in Essex, CT, to Samuel and Susannah (Pratt) Griswold.Samuel's father was Daniel, Morton's great grandfather.Daniel and wife, Fanny Babcock, Samuel and Susannah, and Samuel Ames and wife, Ruth Lee Griswold Griswold are buried in the Centerbrook (Center Brook) cemetery in a Griswold plot that also holds the remains of Selah Griswold, Daniel's father, also of Essex, CT.I know little about Daniel but a bit more about Morton.Born in 1883, Morton attended Hotchkiss Academy, and graduated Williams College in 1906.He graduated Harvard Law in 1909, and died in 1910, at 27, of a staph infection brought on by scratching a sore on his nose.He was first cousin to my grandfather, Harold Hull Griswold (son of F.P. Griswold), father of my father, F.P. Griswold II.Hope this helps. If you DO get theis, please email me at [email protected]'d love to know your connection to Daniel's family. Hope you get this.Best regards, Sam Griswold, Austin, TX, 12/13/2010
