Actually I have commented many times on the "Coat of Arms" generally to individuals looking for an "accurate and official Griswold family Coat of Arms & Motto."
Following is my standard answer:
I regret to tell you that no such thing exists.To understand that you have to understand a bit about Heraldy.Originally "Coats of Arms" were granted to individuals. . . therefore a family could not own one, but eventally they did fall into a hereditary order.That is the "arms" could be passed down to a son, but generally something was changed to make it unique to him. Sometimes his wife's "arms" would be incorporated into his but always there was one common thread that ran through the surname. That is why you see so many different versions of the Griswold crest with the common thread being the running greyhounds. You may wish to read more about this at:
