Well, it helps just to hear that the name Grobe-without-an-s really exists!There don't seem to be many of you.A grand total of 8 messages on GenForum in the last year...
Where-oh-where did your sister's middle name come from??Could be another McLeod family entirely - or some connection with mine.As far as I know, Laura's father Neil J. McLeod of Cape Breton was the only McLeod in his near family who migrated to B.C., though he had cousins named Morrison who did.In the generation before him there were some who followed the Gold Rush to Nevada and California, but those places are a long way from the Canadian border, and most of those men returned to Nova Scotia with their fortunes.
I don't believe that Uncle Art was ever a miner, but he could have been the son of one for all I know.
You don't mention your paternal grandfather's name - do you not have it?
I don't rightly know (yet) if your info will help, but I will hang on to it as a possible piece of the puzzle!Thanks for writing.
