Betty: Thanks for info. I thought there was a chance that the 3rd Joseph (1840-amherst co) was Joseph's (m Eliza) father, since this Joseph would have been 15 in 1840. There was also a Joseph listed in Augusta Co in 1820, but not 1830 (I couldn't find any Grows in 1830!) How about the theory that THIS joseph may be Joseph's father? What a mystery.
I've forgotten the history of the county formation (I have it somewhere!)--where were Augusta & Essex Co.s?
Do you have any dates associated with George?
What connection do the Story & Whitehead families have with my group?
I haven't worked on the VA lines much since I lived in Richmond 15 yrs ago. I'll have to 'dust all this off' & start digging again!
