I cannot find Lacrose, LA listed in Louisiana. Do you know which parish? Lots of Guidry's in Lafourche & Terrebonne parishes in Louisiana. But I only have these records from that area thru 1903. These are Catholic Church Records but also include Civil records.
How do you descend from Sydney Augustus Guidry?

I went to Ancestry.com and clicked "Search All Records" This is what I found:
Sydney Augustus Guidry b. 11/26/1905 Lacrose, LA d. 09/11/1971, Fort Worth, Tarrant, TX 76111
No spouse listed, but one son listed:
Joseph Carroll Guidry, b. 08/09/1942, Houston, TX d. 02/14/1995 Fort Worth, Tarrant, TX 76180
I then went to the Social Security Death Index and this is what I found:
Sydney Guidry same birth date, but diff d. year: Sep 1972 SS# ISS Tx 460-03-7572
I looked for Sydney Augustus Guidry on the 1930 census; the closest to his age:
1930 United States Federal Census - Ancestry.com Name: Sydney A. Guidry, age 24, b. abt. 1906 Home in 1930: New Orleans, LA Estimated Birth Year: abt 1906 Birthplace: Louisiana; parents b. Louisiana Relation to Head: Head Spouse's Name: Vida Guidry age 20 b. abt 1910 in Wyoming; Father b. TX; Mother b. Louisiana Daughter: Vida L. Guidry age 7 mo b. Louisiana
Show this to an older member of the family and see if it triggers memories. If you know which funeral home handled Sydney's final arrangements, ask to buy a copy of his death certificate. You can also look for Obit in the Fort Worth Newspaper.
If all else fails, you can write the Social Security Administration and ask for a copy of Sydney's original SS Application. Ask for the necessary form at the US PO in your area. His original application should list his parents' names.
