Dr. William H. Gunnell
I need help on this one. Does anyone know how Doctor William H. Gunnell who died 1/21/1884 had a son-in-law named Mr. B. Hall connects to my Gunnells from Fairfax. heres Williams info:
Dr. William Gunnell House
City of Fairfax, Virginia
It was in this house that Ranger John Mosby captured the Union area commander Brigadier General Edwin H. Stoughton, in bed, the night of March 9, 1863. Mosby raised his nightshirt and spanked him. “Get up, general, and come with me.” Stoughton roared, “What is this? Do you know who I am, sir?” “I reckon I do, general. Did you ever hear of Mosby?” “Yes, have you caught him?” “No, but he has caught you.”
Mosby also captured two officers, 30 soldiers, and 58 horses. Upon hearing of this action, President Lincoln disgustedly remarked that he could create another general with the stroke of a pen, but he surely hated to lose those horses.
Hope someone can help my 4th Great Uncle was George West Gunnell who married Locian Ratcliffe. On William I need to know how he connects any information would be great thanks
