Re: Amos & Catherine Gustin mar. Sept.1852
William Riley Holden and Jane R. Gustin were my great-grandparents.They are both buried at Moscow Cemetery, Moscow, Latah County, Idaho.
William Riley Holden married, first, Elizabeth Gustin, daughter of Thomas Gustin and Mary Peterson. When Elizabeth remained childless, the couple divorced, on the advice of Brigham Young, that Elizabeth "might be married to some other man that she might have the chance of fulfilling her creation."Elizabeth subsequently was married to Jehial McConnell, but died childless, 11 April 1855.William Riley Holden married, as his second wife, Jane R. Gustin, daughter of Thomas and Mary (Peterson) Gustin, and sister to Elizabeth.William and Jane had twelve children.Four died young. At least five of the children married and had families. Their families are traced in a book I completed in July, 2000. Three daughters are elusive, and I have not located their branches of this family.
