Thank you for your response, Evelyn. It's quite exciting to read that you've "gathered a fair amount of information on him." Would you be willing to share it with me, then? If so, how can we proceed. I'm a new-bee at this.
Also, I'm thinking his first wife may have passed away (I don't have her name) by the 1850 US Census since Patsy (later named Martha - same person?) is not identified as wife in that Census. No wife is listed. Patsy is shown as 15 years younger than Eli in the 1850 Census, while Martha (his wife in later Census') is only about 5 years younger than Eli. Patsy and Martha were Maynards. This younger female (Patsy) would have been 8 when Eli's first child was born and 14 when Eli Jr was born (1850 Census). Who was the first wife?
