Hafner means potter, the word "Hafe, Hafen" is in Southern German dialects like Suabian and Bavarian still widely used for a pot. And a "Hafner" is someone who makes these things, especially also someone who builds stoves of glazed tiles.

Variations are Haffner and Hefner.
