Hagedorn that left 2 kids and wife behind late 1800's ILL

Looking for the father of these to kids.
Hagedorn first name unknown.Was married to Caroline Schmidt.Don't know the date of marriage.
Arthur W. b 12-9-1892 and Theodore b. 12-12-1894
Story has been told that he left one day and never returned.Unable to get any records due to Chicago fire.
