der familie Haggenmacher

By genealogy.com user January 22, 2000 at 09:26:00

Hi all who have the surname of Haggenmacher, Haggenmaker, etc. We are all originally called "Haggenmacher." We came from Winterthur/Zurich, Switzerland. Ship loggers decided to change our names to "Hagenmaker or Haggenmaker. Our family, back in Zurich in late 1400's, were "hook can" makers, or makers of heavy hand held weapons, or in other words -- cannons.

So now, here we are trying to search each other out. My great-great-great grandfather was Johann Eduard (John Edward) Haggenmacher. I have a copy of a petition he made to this great United States of America asking for help now that he could no longer work as a farmer because the wound he received in his shoulder when serving in the Union Army left him disabled.

And you are?
