Hi, you may have found already some more info on your Solomon Halcomb,but I have a few tidbits to add.
Your Solomon Halcomb was mentioned by his wife Catherine in a Civil war pension deposition for my ancestor Addison Ball.
Cathrine said,"Her husband Solomon was a cousin to Addison Ball and they all grew up together on the waters of Little Ivy in Buncombe County,Nc," which is about 18 miles west of Asheville,Nc.
My Addison Ball's mother was Elizabeth Halcomb, so Solomom was her brother,if he is a cousin to Addison.
Elizabeth Halcomb's father was Obadiah Halcomb from SouthCarolina. Her mother was Sarah Hawk, supp. an Indian.
