From Information located from Crown Hill Records (Cemetery, Indianapolis IN) -- Henry J. Hale, Sr. was interred at Lot 129 Section 2 and Grave 6 on January 29, 1889. He died on January 27, 1889 at the age of 84 in Indianapolis, Indiana of “Heart Failure”. Research done for these records by Genealogist Sue Staton of Indianapolis on April 10, 2007.
Mary D. Hale was interred on 25 January in 1876 at Lot: 129, Section: 2, Grave #5. According to the info from the Crown Hill Records she had been born in 1809 and died on 24 January in 1876 in Indianapolis of “Cancer”.According to this record also she had been born in Connecticut and died in Indianapolis.
Also from Crown Hill Records: Henry James Hale, Jr. (apparently known as James Henry Hale) was interred on 26 May in 1928 at Lot 129, Section 2 Grave No. 11. He was born 30 May in 1834 in Connecticut and died 24 May 1928 at the age of 93.
Hale's cause of death was listed as “Drowning Accident.” Apparently this had happened by his jumping from a covered bridge to a creek to avoid a train, according to a newspaper account and two other records. According to his “Indiana State Board of Health Permit for Burial #2650, James Henry Hale died at W. 10th Street and Eagle Creek, of submersion by drowning accidentally.” Funeral Home Director was “Shirley Bros.”
From Crown Hill Records also – Laurence L. Hale (Lawrence) was interred on 31 January of 1901 Lot 129 Section 2 Grave No. 8. He had been born in Kentucky but no birth date was given in Crown Hills records.He died on 29 January in 1901 at the age of as 30, so he was born about 1871. His Indiana State Board of Health Burial Permit provided his age at death. The cause of death was listed as Epilepsy.
The permit (N0 307 County: Marion, Township: Center Town: Indianapolis) is not a perfect piece of info, since it lists that he had died on January 31 and reports also that the proposed date of burial would be “Jan 1”.Genealogist Sue Stanton used a source called “Way Back” which also said the he was 36 when he died and not30, which means that Lawrence was born about 1865 and not 1871.
Sophia L. Hale died on October 18, in 1914, according to her Indiana State Board of Health Permit for Burial#4033 (County Marion, Township: Center Town: Indianapolis) The cause of death was listed here as “Bronchial Pneumonia” and her age was listed as 74 at the time of her death. Sophia points out that “Way Back” says she was 72.Crown Hill info has her birth year as 1842.
