You do surprise me that there is no male line in the North East of England. My fathers cousin Tom had a son who went to work in the Northeast at ICI Billingham. He was a Professor in Organic Chemistry and named Bernard. I know he was married and had a son. Across the country to the west in Cumbria there was a family of Halfpennys living in Ulverston. Hope this is of interest
