Penny I think I have spoken with you or written you sometime about the time of your marriage. I am both a Halfpenny and McGarry. My Halfpennys are from Kent or possibly York Best info given me was that they were all Jewish. My grandfather (Samuel Whitmore Halfpenny) married Catherine Virgienee Stone of Pa. My Father is William Sanuel Halfpenny. They were both Unitarians which is often the religion of choice for converted Jews. They both lived in Baltimore. My McGarrys are Irish from County Cork. But they may have originally been Scottish exports to Ireland.
Its interesting they should have married each other. Just as my own Mother and Father did. My mom's family (McGarry) were prominent members of Cincinnati society in the late 19th and early 20th century.
Hated to read that Robert Halfpenny was a cattle thief sent to Australia. Please keep me posted as to your respective findings.
