does sound as though there may be a connection. Where are you writing from? It's funny, because I work as a curator in a museum and have discovered a security guard works here with the name Halfpenny, and upon further questioning, it turns out that his family also hail from Bromsgrove, and knows of a rift in the family, which I believe was caused by my gggranma Mary-Ann when she married an illiterate orphan, William Bryan in 1894 against her fathers wishes.
