Hello again.John Hamilton was born December 5, 1829 in the Fifth District of Marion County, Tennessee. He was the second of seven children of William W. Hamilton (1807-1876) and a Miss White (d. 1842).William W. Hamilton's parents were John Hamilton (1780-1833) and his wife, Margaret Witherspoon (1785-1844).They are buried with readable headstones in Shiloh Cemetery, Marion County, Tennessee.Margaret's father was John Witherspoon (1756-1843), a pensioned Revolutionary War soldier who died in Putnam County, Indiana after living at various places in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama.
John Hamilton (b. 1829) was married in Saline County (now Grant County) Arkansas on July 27, 1853 to Nancy Veasey.Nancy was born July 8, 1833, and died July 15, 1896.Both are buried in unmarked graves in New Hope Cemetery in Grant County, Arkansas. This was told to me by one of their grandchildren about thirty years ago.John Hamilton died in Grant County on November 30, 1909.Their family Bible had a record of seven children:
1. Sarah Jane, b. July 20, 1854
2. James Lyttleton, b. Oct. 14, 1856
3. Harvey, Feb. 11, 1859-Oct. 31, 1936
4. Tennessee Ann, Aug. 5, 1861-Dec. 1, 1882
5. Andrew Jackson, b. Feb. 19, 1864
6. William Henry, b. Aug 28, 1868
7. Handie Caroline, b. Apr. 11, 1871
There are at least two other descendants of John and Nancy (Veasey) Hamilton online who are working on this lineage.I'll try to dig out their email addresses in the next day or two.
Hope this interests you.Mike Patterson
