Stafford Pioneer Cemetery, Eugene, OR (Norman Hammitt buried here)
William and Priscilla Jane Ramsey Stafford immigrated to Lane County, OR, in 1852. They were accompanied by friends and family. Their eight year old son, Henry Newell, died of a snake bite in September of 1858. A plot of land 100 ft. by 100 ft. was set aside as a family cemetery in the Mohawk Valley. The cemetery is known as the Stafford Pioneer Cemetery. The cemetery is still in use today. We visited this cemetery in Aug. of 2004, and we have created a web page with information about the cemetery.
