John Hampton the 1683 immigrant from Scotland to NJ have several children one of whom was David. David died circa 1710 and left wife Mary (comin/cumin) and son George per his will. Mary’s brother David died in 1716 and left money to “David Hampton, son of David Hampton.” So it would appear that Mary was pregnant when David Sr. died and subsequently had a son she named David. We know that George the son of David Sr married Mary Hooten in MD in 1733 and at the same time sold his inherited land in NJ. We also know that a David Hampton shows up in Cecil Co MD circa 1734 and that what would appear to be a brother George- both sons of David Hampton Sr. We find both David and George in Cecil County Md in 1740.

My guess is that Mary Hooton had a son Andrew before she married George Hampton and that would be Andrew Hutton/Houghton/Hooton?
Andrew Hutton 32.304 A CE L36.13.4 L27.16.11. Dec 23, 1751
“Inventory” of “the Estate of Andrew Hatton late of Cecil County Deceased…… 28th day of December 1750” ……”36.13.4”…. signed Edwd. Rumsey and Walter Diven > Appr. Nearest of Kin: George Hamton, Anna Retter Anderson, her mark; George Ford…. [In my copy kh ]
If George married Marry in 1733 and the will was probated in 1750, that would only be 17 years, this Andrew Hutton was most likely more than 17 years old to have this estate, thus Mary was married before 1733 to someone else? George was born before 1710, so he would have been at least 23 in 1733.
