Re: William Hanaghan and Mary Whalen
griffiths valuation of ireland only show's three hanaghan's in all of ireland they are all in co. mayo. they are anthony of derreens(village or townland), ballysakeery (parish).martin of the same village and parish and another anthony of rathglass east, ballysakeery. you may or may not be very lucky here that your name is spelt this way. the only to be sure is to check birth and marraige records. they began recording parish records in 1843. to research in ireland you village name;derreens or rathglass east, parish; ballysakeery, barony:tirawey, dioceses; killala and poor law unon;ballina. there is the chance that their name was changed when they came to america or when this valuation was taken, as they were both taken by people of different nationalities and languages. good luck.
