Portraits of Thomas & Lydia Henchman Hancock, c.1766, Boston, MA

By William Pease March 15, 2013 at 07:52:02

Excellent portraits of Thomas Hancock (1703-1764) & his wife Lydia Henchman Hancock (1714-1777), Boston, Massachusetts, painted c. 1766 were pictured in an advertisement of an issue in either the years 2012 or 2013 of ANTIQUES magazine or ANTIQUES & FINE ART magazine. Unfortunately I neglected to record the exact source of these portraits.

In case you can no longer purchase copies of these issues or are unable to find them in your local public library (remember to take along your camera), I am scanning these portraits for any of their family descendants or relatives and researchers who might like copies sent freely by email. Just imagine if there were a portrait in existence of one of your ancestors or relatives before the age of photography, and you did not know of it. That would, indeed, be a very great shame and injustice, which is why I’m scanning these portraits and posting about them. Someone in the Hancock and Henchman families ought to have a copy of these portraits.

My email address can be found by clicking on my underlined name above. Please note that there is a period between my first and last name and between the two words in the second half of my address. Also, please email me directly rather than respond to me on this website as I might not see that response.

If they were portraits of a 19th century Pease couple in my family line, I'd certainly hope someone would do the same for me. Call it a simple, but appropriate, genealogical good deed.
