George Augustine hanley

I have recently discovered from the family bible that George Augustine Hanley was married to a Victoria Isabella (Bella) Pattison in 1901, they had a daughter Mary in 1902 both events were in Lanchester in Durham. In 1914 he was working on cruise ships between Liverpool and Canada, he met someone from Northern Ireland called Mary Ann McMonagle and they eventually got married and became US citizens and lived in New York.This is really intriguing, his mother Mary Ann Hanley always thought he went down with the Titanic as she never heard from himagain. I can't find neither a divorce, 2nd marriage or a death of Bella and I have a feeling that his marriage to Mary Ann was bigamous.Can anyone help?
